The department carries out the organisation, storage and use of library fund of the Educational-information centre . In the Educational-information centre fund the editions having the big scientific, educational, cultural and historical value are collected.
At department of storage of books there is a sector of rare editions, which
Has more than 1335 copies of products of the press in Russian and Kazakh languages represent following collections:
- Editions of 19-20 centuries,
- Lifetime editions of products of outstanding scientists and culture,
- Tiny editions,
- Editions of regional studies;
- Pre-revolutionary periodicals,
- Books on a library science, book history, bibliology.

On the basis of department of storage of books the sector of rare editions works.
