The book that serves as the core of our spiritual life today continues to transmit knowledge to readers from generation to generation. The library is a *shanyrak* (symbolic hearth), and the librarian is a person who introduces and passes on spiritual wealth to seekers and readers.
“October 24 — Librarian’s Day” was established by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on October 18, 2022, No. 833.
In honor of this holiday, the staff of the Educational and Information Center held an event with veterans of the library profession, heads of major libraries and universities in Shymkent, as well as students of the Department of Library Science, “World History and Museum Studies” of the Historical and Pedagogical Faculty.
The event was attended by several library veterans, including S. M. Bekova, Director of the Shymkent City Scientific Universal Library named after Al-Farabi; Candidate of Philological Sciences A. A. Zhapparkulova; Director of the Scientific Library of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy R. I. Darbicheva; and R. S. Tukенova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Humanities of the Z. A.
